About the Author

Peter O’Connor is Professor of Strategic Management at the University of South Australia. Previously he held roles as Chaired Professor of Digital Disruption at ESSEC Business School, France, where he also serves as Academic Director of the specialized courses in Hospitality Management, as well as runs a variety of in-company executive education programs.  Peter has over 30 years’ experience in the management and delivery of programs for senior executives.

Peter’s primary research, teaching and consulting interests focus on the use of technology in online retailing, distribution and electronic marketing.  In addition to authoring two textbooks on these subjects, Peter has published articles in leading academic journals including the Journal of MarketingHarvard Business Review,Journal of Retailing and Consumer Services, Tourism Management, the Cornell Quarterlyand the International Journal of Hospitality Management. In parallel to working at Essec, Peter also consults with internet analyst firm PhoCusWright Inc. as a senior analyst. In 2015, he launched Essec’s first MOOC (Massive Online Open Course) on Coursera, which currently has over 10,000 active learners.  Peter is regularly quoted by the international press and consulted by investment companies and private equity firms on developments in the online arena.

Peter is married with three kids and lives in Adelaide.
